Microsoft Teams notifications to the host (1:1)

SmartLobby can send visit notifications directly to the host in Microsoft Teams as a one-to-one message (via the SmartLobbyNotificationBot). This is separate from posting to a Teams channel using a channel email address—see Sending Notifications to a Microsoft Teams Channel.

Who can use it

  • Available on Standard subscriptions and above (the dashboard shows this next to the option).
  • Your organization needs a Microsoft Teams administrator (or someone with permission to deploy Teams apps) to install the bot for your tenant.

Step 1: Install SmartLobbyNotificationBot (Teams admin)

  1. Download the bot package:

    https://dl.smartlobby.co/SmartLobbyMsTeamsNotificationBot.zip

  2. Your Microsoft Teams admin installs or uploads the app for your organization. The exact steps depend on Microsoft’s current admin experience and your tenant policies—for example custom app upload for a team, org-wide app deployment from the Teams admin center, or an approved app catalog process. Follow your IT security guidelines when sideloading or publishing custom apps.

Until the bot is installed and allowed in your tenant, hosts will not receive Teams notifications from SmartLobby.

Step 2: Enable Teams notifications in SmartLobby

  1. Sign in to the SmartLobby admin dashboard.
  2. Open Settings: https://admin.smartlobby.co/#/settings
  3. In the notifications area, enable Enable Sending Microsoft Teams Notifications to Host (wording may match your dashboard language).
  4. Save the global settings.

Ensure host identification and notification settings elsewhere in SmartLobby match how you expect hosts to be resolved (for example staff records and “collect host” options), so the correct person receives the Teams message.
