Label Printers Badge Designer
The Label Printers Badge Designer holds everything that decides what a Brother QL or PT label printer puts on a visitor badge: which template to use, your badge logo, and which visitor details appear on the label. These are the badges your kiosk prints the moment somebody signs in.
Open Badges in the admin dashboard menu, then Open Label Printers Badge Designer — or go straight to the designer.
These settings used to live under Settings → Badge Configuration. Nothing was removed and nothing was reset — the whole section simply moved onto its own page, next to the designer for office printers, so both live under one Badges menu item instead of one being buried in the middle of the global settings form. If you are following an older screenshot or an internal runbook that says "Settings, then scroll to Badge Configuration", go to Badges instead.

Badge templates
Badge design picks the template. The preview beside the picker shows what that template puts on the label, so you can flick through the options and watch the layout change.
There are two templates: Plain default, and With Frame and Logo. Only With Frame and Logo carries a logo, so choosing it reveals two more buttons:
- Change Badge Logo — upload a PNG. The button tells you the size it expects (350 × 80 pixels); a logo at that size prints cleanly, a much larger one is scaled down and can look soft.
- Remove Badge Logo — drops the logo and prints the badge without it.
Plain default ignores the logo entirely, so those buttons are hidden for it. The field toggles behave the same way — the ones that only apply to the framed badge appear only when With Frame and Logo is selected. If a toggle you expected is missing, check which template you are on.
Badge fields
Each toggle removes something from the badge — they are all phrased as Exclude, so switching one on makes the badge simpler, not busier.

Replace Badge Photo by field swaps the photo area for a piece of text — a car registration, for instance. It is worth knowing for two situations: reception badges where a photo is more than you need, and accounts that do not collect visitor photos at all, where the photo area would otherwise print empty.
Skip badge preview
Normally a visitor reaches a badge screen at the end of sign-in, checks their details and presses Print Badge. Enable skip badge preview removes that stop: the badge is still built behind the scenes, but the screen is never shown and the visitor goes straight to the end of the flow.
With the toggle on you can narrow it to certain visitor types — staff who sign in every morning skip the screen, while a first-time contractor still gets to check their details. Selecting every type, or none at all, means the same thing: skip it for everybody.
One thing to get right before you turn this on: skipping the preview also removes the Print Badge button, so the badge only reaches the printer if that kiosk is set to print automatically. That is a per-device setting — Devices, then the device, then Hide the "Print Badge" button and automatically print badge on each visit — and it needs printing enabled on the device as well. Turn skip-preview on without it and the affected visitor types simply get no printed badge.
Save
Nothing is stored until you press Save. The page saves the same account settings the global Settings page does, so there is no need to visit both — saving here is enough.
Only administrators with permission to edit global settings see the Save button. Everyone else can read the page but not change it.
Before the badge can print at all
This page decides what the badge says. Two other things decide whether it prints:
- The printer has to be on your network and selected in the admin dashboard — see Printing and Enabling Badge Printing.
- Printing has to be enabled on the kiosk device itself, on its device configuration screen.
If badges are not coming out, check those two before changing anything here.
Printing on an office printer instead?
Badges for A4 or A6 card stock are drawn in the other designer, where you lay elements out yourself and download a PDF — see Standard Office Printers Badge Designer. The two designers are independent: the template and toggles on this page have no effect on a PDF badge, and a PDF design has no effect on what the label printer produces.
